A big thank you to our fearless chaperones today! We so appreciate you putting on a hard hat (literally) and suiting up for all of our activities today at Brightwater Treatment Facility. These trips are not possible without your support; thank you
An incredible day of learning today in Woodinville. Student learning today included:
- the water cycle
- learning about our wastewater and how it is treated before being flowing 13 miles into Puget Sound
- learning about each step of the treatment: from home/school/etc. as it enters the facility
- how to help conserve water, protect our environment and make good choices at home that ultimately help protect (already way too polluted!) Puget Sound
A few questions to ask your child:
- What are the steps that Brightwater uses to separate out trash from water? What are some examples of trash that goes through our drains?
- What are microbes and how do they help with the treatment process?
- Is the water that goes from Brightwater into Puget Sound perfectly clean? If no, why not? What still gets sent into Puget Sound?
- What can we do at home to help lessen the impact of polluting Puget Sound?
Thank you to our volunteers today as well as Curriculum Enhancement and PTSA who make all of this possible!
That was so much fun.
