Olympia Field Trip!

Please read the important information below regarding Monday’s all day field trip to Olympia.  It’s a BIG day and there are a lot of important details you need to know.

Important Details:

• Bring a sack lunch (all items in your sack lunch must be disposable!); no snack on Monday, so make sure you have a good healthy, balanced breakfast. You don’t want to have a sugar crash from your Strawberry Pop Tart at 9am. 
• Dress for the weather and wear comfy shoes (we will be outside walking from building to building)
• You may bring a camera, but NO iPods, Kindles, iPads, other electronics. You may bring your phone, but it may ONLY be used for pictures, not playing games, not texting etc. If you are using your phone for anything other than photos, Mr. Regala and I have the right to take your phone until the end of the school day.
• You need to remember to be on your best behavior!  You are the ‘Ambassadors of Cherry Crest’ (and the Bellevue School District)!  Misbehavior will not be tolerated and there will be serious consequences.

• Students cannot bring backpacks or wear hoods and hats while visiting the Capital Campus.

• Students cannot carry food, water, or chew gum while touring inside the Capital buildings.

• Make sure to have fun, ask questions, take pictures and absorb it all!  This will be an experience to remember–you will learn a lot and have fun. A winning combination!

Pancake Breakfast!!! G5 Fundraiser!

As you know, the 5^th grade students will host two breakfasts at Applebee’s to raise money to support students in need in our community on April 30^th and May 7^th from 8:45 – 10:45am.  This is a fun service opportunity, great relationship building, and memorable finale event to the kids’ Cherry Crest experience.

Ticket Sales

Each ticket is $10 and provides a breakfast with pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee or juice.  We must collect money before dispensing tickets, and diners must bring tickets to Applebee’s for their breakfast.  Please note that lost tickets cannot be replaced.  We only have 250 tickets per breakfast, so it’s a good idea to purchase tickets sooner rather than later. 

 

How to buy and sell tickets:

• Students should use the sales sheet to track ticket sales and should collect money first. (They have received a sheet in class, and we have also attached one here). 
• Students should bring the 1) sales sheet and 2) money from ticket sales on Thursdays only (cash or check made to CCPTSA).  At first recess, your student will exchange the money for physical tickets. We will exchange money for tickets every Thursday.
• Students should then deliver the tickets to their customers.  Remember tickets cannot be replaced; treat them like cash.  
• For supporters who can’t attend the breakfast, we also accept donations.  Donated funds will also go to the kids’ chosen charities.  Donations can be cash or check made to CCPTSA.  Students should bring the money from donations on Thursdays.
• Please consider buying tickets for your family soon – we’d love to see and serve as many fifth grade families as possible J

Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks to many of you for signing your students up to staff our breakfasts!  We still have a few slots available.

• We are opening sign ups, and now students can volunteer for up to two slots.  Please consider signing up here .  There are still a few runner and floater positions open –both these jobs should be fun.  Runners will help bring food to the tables and bus empty tables, and floaters will walk around to tables thanking customers, describing our fundraiser charities, and giving diners the opportunity to tip/make donations.
• If your child is signed up to volunteer, please fill out the attached Release Minor Form by April 18 and email it back to [email protected] and [email protected].
• Volunteers will be working during their shift, not eating.  If your volunteer wants to eat breakfast at Applebees, they will need to buy a ticket and eat during non-working times (maybe attend to both breakfasts; work at one and eat at one J)

• How much are tickets?  $10 each with approximately $5 going to the class gift.
• How many tickets can I buy?  As many as you want until we sell out.
• How do I get tickets?  You can buy tickets from fifth graders.  Fifth graders who sell tickets will track sales on the sales sheet and collect money up front.  They will bring in their money with the sales sheet to school on Thursdays, and will exchange money for tickets at first recess.
• Do I need the ticket to attend the breakfast?  Yes, we will be collecting tickets at the door.  And tickets are non-refundable – please do not lose tickets/treat them like cash.   
• Which organizations did the students vote to support? 
• Library for Sherwood Forest Spanish-English Program.  Kids learn to read best if taught in their native language.  Sherwood Forrest has a Spanish-English program and has a great need for more Spanish chapter books – we can create a library for them!
• Backpack Meals for Kids provides free, easy-to-make meals each Friday to about 120 youth in Bellevue schools ages 12-18 who would otherwise go hungry.  There are 160 known homeless students in Bellevue.
  • $10 fills a backpack for one student
  • $40 supports one student for a month
  • $100 helps 10 students for a week
• Congregations for Kids helps students from low income families within Bellevue have a Good Start Back to School by providing these students with backpacks and supplies needed for the school year.  1,650 students from low income families in the Bellevue (WA) School District received backpacks and/or school supplies last school year.
