Hi all,
Happy Weekend! I cannot believe it is already the end of Week 3! Here’s a quick recap for what you need to know:
- Friday=FORMS! More are coming home with your child today, including: Patrol schedule, Picture Day order form, health intake form, photo permission form for Ms. Blackard, Robotics sign up and Walk-a-Thon packet! All of these items should be in your child’s binder.
- Curriculum Night: It was SO great to see all of you this past Wednesday evening. We so appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to be here. If you were not able to attend and you would like to view the Power Point we presented, please let me know and I can forward it to you as a PDF file. Thank you also to those of you who signed up to volunteer for organizing events, art auction project, etc.! We so appreciate your time and energy!
- Walk-a-Thon (WAT): CONGRATS to our very own G5 student, Adi Megiddo who designed this year’s WAT t-shirts! Way to go Adi! Today, students received their WAT packet and t-shirt. Just FYI, the CC WAT will be on Friday, October 3rd.
- Patrol: Schedule/calendar is coming home today. I will also be attaching the document under the “Patrol” tab on my blog. Please remember to put the weeks your child is responsible for on your calendar. Also, if your child is not going to be able to make one of their dates (i.e. out of town or at home, sick), they need to find a sub. A student will receive three strikes (misbehavior, not showing up etc.) and then he/she will be asked to leave Patrol. This is because our entire Cherry Crest community is dependent upon our 5th grade Patrol to keep our school safe.
- Homework: We are only in the third week, but many students are having a difficult time completing HW on time. Our concern is that the homework load is going to continue to increase and students will fall further and further behind. Please reiterate with your child the importance of practicing the concepts they learned at school and the expected responsibility on their part, which will make them successful now and later in life. We always suggest to pack homework in binders and backpacks at night and put them by the door, so the early morning scramble doesn’t leave them ill-prepared for the next day.
- Updates from the week are on the blog! Check it out! :)
As always, please let us know if you have any questions. We are excited for the upcoming year ahead!
Happy Weekend!
Best,
